Acceptable Use Policy

Askwise is for asking honest questions. Treat your respondents the way you’d want to be treated when someone hands you a form.

01
No phishing, ever
Never ask for passwords, codes or log-in details. Phishing surveys go offline immediately.
02
No secrets or IDs
No card numbers, passwords or ID numbers; sensitive data only with a legal basis.
03
Be who you say you are
No impersonating brands or people, and no spam.
04
Kids need consent
Under 13s only with verifiable parental consent.

01Why this policy exists

Every survey on Askwise is answered by real people who trust that the form in front of them is what it says it is. Because surveys are hosted on getaskwise.com, misuse by one customer can hurt respondents and the reputation of every other customer. This policy keeps Askwise safe for both.

It forms part of our Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses Askwise to create, publish or share surveys and forms, on any plan.

02The core rule

03No phishing or credential harvesting

This is the rule we enforce most strictly. You must never use Askwise to trick people into giving up access to their accounts or money. That includes surveys or forms that:

  • ask for a password, PIN, passcode, one-time code, security answer or recovery phrase for any account or service, including your own;
  • pretend to be a sign-in, account verification, “mailbox full”, delivery-fee or payment-update page;
  • claim an account will be suspended, a prize is waiting or a refund is due, to pressure people into handing over details;
  • link to or redirect respondents to a site that does any of the above.

Surveys that look like phishing are disabled immediately, without notice, and the account is usually closed.

04Data you must not collect

Askwise is built for opinions, feedback, registrations and research, not for storing secrets. You must not use it to collect:

Never collectExamples
Payment card dataFull card numbers, security codes (CVC), or card PINs. Use a proper payment provider instead.
Passwords and secretsPasswords, PINs, one-time codes, API keys, recovery phrases or private keys.
Government identifiersPassport, national ID, social security or tax numbers, or driving licence numbers, unless the law requires you to collect them and you have a lawful basis.

Health and other sensitive data

You may collect health information, or data revealing racial or ethnic origin, religious or political beliefs, sexual orientation, trade union membership, or biometric or genetic data, only where you have a clear legal basis to do so, have obtained the respondent’s explicit, informed consent where the law requires it, and tell respondents plainly how the data will be used. Clinical, insurance and similar regulated use cases may need safeguards Askwise does not provide; it is your responsibility to check before you start.

05No impersonation

  • Don’t pretend to be another company, brand, government body, school, charity or person, or suggest you are affiliated with one when you aren’t. This includes copying their logos, colours or wording to make a survey look official.
  • You may survey people about a brand, for example asking what they think of a product, as long as it is clear the survey comes from you and not from the brand.
  • Agencies and researchers running surveys for a client must be authorised by that client and should say so where appropriate.

06No spam

  • Share survey links only with people who expect to hear from you, or in places where posting them is welcome.
  • Don’t send survey links in bulk unsolicited email, messages or comments, or post them using bots or purchased lists.
  • Don’t use surveys as a vehicle for advertising, link farming, search-engine manipulation or chain messages.
  • Don’t submit automated or fake responses, to your own surveys or anyone else’s, to inflate results.

07Surveying children

You must not survey children under 13, or collect their personal data, without verifiable parental or guardian consent obtained before they take part. Where you or the child are in a country that sets a higher age (for example, up to 16 in parts of the European Union), the higher age applies.

Schools and youth organisations using Askwise must follow their own safeguarding rules and the law that applies to them, and should avoid collecting names or contact details from children unless necessary.

08Illegal and harmful content

You must not use Askwise to create, host or share content that:

  • is illegal where you or your respondents are, or promotes illegal activity;
  • sexually exploits or endangers children, in any form;
  • harasses, threatens, bullies or intimidates anyone, or incites violence or hatred against people based on a protected characteristic;
  • infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
  • distributes malware, or links to sites that do;
  • is used for fraud, scams, pyramid schemes, or deceptive offers of money, jobs or prizes;
  • targets people with deceptive election or voting information.

09Abuse of the Service

  • Don’t scrape, crawl or harvest getaskwise.com, other customers’ surveys or their results, by automated means or otherwise.
  • Don’t get around plan limits, response limits or rate limits, including by creating multiple accounts.
  • Don’t probe, scan or test the security of Askwise, or attempt to access accounts, surveys or data that aren’t yours. If you find a vulnerability, please report it to [email protected].
  • Don’t interfere with the Service, overload it, or reverse engineer it.
  • Don’t use webhooks, redirects or hidden fields to send respondents’ data somewhere they haven’t been told about.
  • Don’t resell access to Askwise or let others use your account to get around these rules.

10Reporting a survey

If you come across a survey on Askwise that breaks these rules, especially one that asks for passwords or payment details, please tell us. Every public survey has a “Report this survey” link, or you can use our report form or email [email protected].

Include the survey link and a short description of the problem. We review every report, prioritise those involving phishing or risk to people, and act on confirmed phishing reports as quickly as we can.

11Enforcement

If we believe this policy has been broken, or respondents are at risk, we may, with or without notice:

  • close a survey to new responses, or take it offline;
  • remove content from a survey;
  • disable features such as redirects, webhooks or embeds for an account;
  • suspend or close the account involved, without refund where the breach is serious; and
  • preserve relevant data and cooperate with affected organisations and law enforcement where appropriate.

If you think we got it wrong, write to [email protected] and we will review the decision.
