Getting started
How do I create my first survey?
Sign up for free, then click New survey on your dashboard. Start from a blank survey or pick one of our templates — every question in a template can be edited, reordered or removed.
Do my respondents need an Askwise account?
No. Anyone with the link, embed or QR code can answer — no sign-up, no app to install.
What's the difference between Focus and Classic layouts?
Focus shows one question at a time, full-screen, with keyboard shortcuts (
Enter to continue, letters A/B/C to pick choices). Classic shows all questions on a single page, like a traditional form. You can switch at any time from the survey's Settings — your questions stay exactly as they are.Does Askwise work on phones?
Yes. Every survey adapts to the screen it's opened on, with large touch targets on mobile and keyboard shortcuts on desktop.
Building surveys
Which question types are available?
Fifteen: short text, long text, email, phone, number, single choice, multiple choice, dropdown, yes/no, ranking, rating (stars, hearts or smileys), Net Promoter Score®, opinion scale, date and statement (a message between questions that needs no answer). All types are available on every plan.
Can I make a question optional?
Yes. Every question has a Required toggle. Statements never require an answer.
Can respondents add their own answer to a choice question?
Yes — turn on the “Other” option for single or multiple choice questions and respondents can type their own answer. You can also shuffle option order and set a minimum or maximum number of selections for multiple choice.
How do welcome and thank-you screens work?
The welcome screen introduces your survey before the first question; the thank-you screen appears after submitting. Both can be turned on or off and their title, text and button customised. On Pro and Business you can also redirect respondents to any URL after they submit.
How do I change the look of my survey?
Open the Theme panel and choose an accent colour (Grape, Peach, Mint, Sky, Rose or Ink), a background (Lavender, Clean white, Sunset or the dark Midnight) and a font style (Modern, Classic or Rounded). Changes preview instantly.
Can I hide the progress bar or question numbers?
Yes, both can be turned off in the survey's Settings.
Logic jumps
What is a logic jump?
A rule attached to a question that decides where the respondent goes next. For example: “If answer is No, jump to question 5” or “If rating is less than 3, jump to ‘What went wrong?’”. You can also jump straight to the end of the survey.
Which conditions can I use?
Depending on the question type: is, is not, includes (for multiple choice), greater than and less than (for ratings, NPS, scales and numbers), and answered or skipped. Rules are checked top to bottom, the first matching rule wins, and jumps always move forward in the survey — so respondents can never get stuck in a loop.
What happens if no rule matches?
The respondent simply continues to the next question in order.
Which plans include logic jumps?
Logic jumps are available on Pro and Business. See pricing.
Results & export
What do I see in the results?
An overview with responses, views, completion rate and average time to complete; a responses-per-day chart; a drop-off funnel showing where people leave; and a chart for every question — distributions, averages, medians, NPS breakdown (promoters, passives, detractors), top words for text answers and average rank for ranking questions. You can also see device breakdown and browse individual responses.
How quickly do new responses show up?
Immediately. Every response is included in your results and charts as soon as it's submitted.
Can I filter results?
Yes. Add a segment filter like “show only respondents who answered X” and every chart redraws for that group. Great for comparing customers on different plans, or promoters versus detractors.
How do I export responses to CSV?
Open Results and click Export CSV. You'll get one row per response with every answer, hidden fields and the submission time. CSV export is available on Pro and Business.
Can I get notified about new responses?
Yes. Turn on email alerts in the survey's Settings to get an email whenever someone responds (Pro and Business). On Business you can also send every response to your own systems via a webhook.
How do webhooks work?
On the Business plan, add a webhook URL in the survey's Settings. Each time a response is submitted, Askwise sends it as JSON with a POST request to that URL.
Plans & billing
How do I upgrade?
Go to Settings → Plan & billing, or choose a plan on the pricing page. Your new limits apply as soon as the payment goes through.
When will I be charged?
When you start a paid plan, and then automatically at the start of each monthly or yearly period. Prices are in US dollars (USD).
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings → Plan & billing and cancel in one click. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for. You keep all your surveys and responses.
Where can I find my invoices?
All invoices are listed in Settings → Plan & billing, ready to download.
Account & privacy
I forgot my password. What now?
Click “Forgot password?” on the login page and we'll email you a link to set a new one.
How do I change my password or email?
Open Settings → Account. You can update your profile and password there. If you need to change the email on your account, write to [email protected].
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Account and choose Delete account. This permanently removes your account, your surveys and every response collected. It can't be undone, so export anything you need first. If you can't sign in, email [email protected] from your account address and we'll help.
Who owns the responses I collect?
You do. We process responses only to provide the service. See our Privacy policy and Data processing agreement.
Someone is using Askwise for spam or phishing. What do I do?
Please report the survey. We review every report and take down surveys that break our Acceptable use policy.
